Spring 2010 EOCT's

This is the calendar schedule for the Spring EOCT testing. The details have not all been worked out yet, but we do know that ALL tests will be on-line. This is just really for your information at this point.

Monday, Tuesday (May 10th-11th) Biology**, Geometry* and Math II*

Wednesday, Thursday (May 12th-13th) 9th Grade LA**, Algebra* and Math I*

Friday (May 14th) Make-Ups

Monday, Tuesday (May 17th-18th) U.S. History** and Economics**

Wednesday, Thursday (May 19th-20th) Physical Science** and American Lit (11 th LA)**

Friday (May 21st) Make-ups

*Math classes will take a paper and pencil test in their teacher’s classroom.

**All other classes will take their test in a computer lab, schedule to be announced.

Students are required to take state mandated End of Course test in the areas of Algebra I (or equivalent), Geometry, U.S. History, Economics, Biology, 9th Grade Language Arts, and 11th Grade Language Arts. These tests will count 15% of the student's overall grade for the semester. Students must take the End of Course Test in order to receive Carnegie Units for the courses requiring the EOCT.

Teachers of these eight courses are informed of the following guidelines for End-of-Course Tests (EOCT):

  • according the State Board policy the EOCT will count 15% of the final grade for the course
  • no student may receive course credit until the student takes the state EOCT.
  • for students who do not take the EOCT, teachers must report NT for the final grade.
    NT will designate No Test.
  • students who do not take the EOCT will not be allowed to retake the course until the NT is removed.
  • a grade of NT can only be removed when the student takes the EOCT.

Students who are present for the EOCT and put their name on the EOCT but do not answer any questions will have:

 

Teachers of the 8 EOCT courses will also be administering the locally developed final assessments as have been done previously according to GCPS Board policy:

Students who are taking Post Secondary Option (PSO) classes that require the state mandated end of course tests will

The PSO coordinator at the local school will be responsible for monitoring this process and insuring adherence to these guidelines.
