CHHS FBLA

Collins Hill FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is off to a great start with over 130 members! The members’ enthusiasm is contagious as demonstrated by the recruitment of new members. Collins Hill FBLA is once again one of the largest chapters in the state.

At the last meeting, 83 members began completing the necessary requirements for the Business Achievement Award. National FBLA gives these awards in the spring of each year. Members start with the Future award and must complete activities in the area of education, progress, and service. To promote FBLA and proper business etiquette, students are encouraged to dress professionally the first Thursday of each month.

Thirty-one members represented Collins Hill at the Fall Motivational Rally in Macon, GA on September 27. At the rally, the guest speaker, Jason Dorsey, energized the group with stories and techniques of finding the perfect job. While in college, he wrote his first book, GRADUATE TO YOUR PERFECT JOB. Then several thousand Georgia FBLA members from across the state attended the Georgia State Fair.

FBLA is busy raising funds for March of Dimes, which is supported by FBLA chapters across the nation. This year, students have sold glow stick necklaces at the Homecoming game and raised $550. Currently, students are selling paper pumpkins for $1. On October 30, students will bowl at Oasis Lanes to have fun and raise money for March of Dimes. Last year, the Collins Hill FBLA chapter raised over $2,000 for this cause.

Upcoming community service events in November include a Coat Drive and Operation Christmas Child. Every month, FBLA students are volunteering at Sheltering Arms, a daycare in Lawrenceville.
